Attempts at becoming an adult. Fail...

I keep a sketchbook of sorts. I’m at most a terrible artist and I have no plans on ever making it big with my sketches. But I love when I hear something, read something, or see something and I make a note in my book. I then look back and I know that someday I’ll have something to write about, laugh about, or even think about. How else can you recreate the past? I look through my book and wonder sometimes, where did this text come from? Did I really say that? Omg I totally forgot about that quote. Once I look back that is just more fodder for my writing process. Even if it was used before, it can always be revamped and relooked at. I think that EVERYONE should keep a journal or a book to keep snippets in. Why shouldn’t you have something to look back on and laugh about?
What he says is true, “sketchbooks (as well as journals in my opinion) are not about being a good artist, they’re about being a good thinker.”

I might be in love with the design for Jason Santa Maria’s latest article, “Pretty Sketchy”. Everything that can be, from the article’s text to the navigation to the logo, is in a sketchbook style. And he’s right:

Sketchbooks are NOT about being a good artist, they’re about being a good thinker.
